Making slime is easier than you may think and the cleanup is simple & won’t ruin your favorite kitchen wares.

Ingredients

Here is what you’ll need to make one batch of slime:

  • Glass mixing bowls
  • Liquid measuring cup
  • Water
  • 4 oz. Elmer’s School Glue
  • Borax {from the laundry care aisle}
  • Food coloring

Mixing

In a glass mixing bowl, empty the contents of one 4 oz. bottle of Elmer’s School Glue.  Next, add 1/2 cup of water and mix well until the glue and water are combined.  Mix in food coloring to reach desired slime color.

In a separate bowl, add 1 teaspoon of Borax to 1 cup of water.  Mix well until the Borax is dissolved.  Pour the Borax mixture into the bowl of glue and begin stirring.  You will notice the slime beginning to form immediately!

You’ll also notice an excess of water – this water can be poured off and discarded.  At first the slime will be… well, slimey.  The slime will start to lose its watery consistency by kneading it in your hands.

In our house, we made two batches because… well, two kids and each one wanted a different color.  After playing with the slime, we popped it into sandwich baggies and stored it in the fridge.  Trust me on this one — it will eventually grow mold if you don’t.  When the kids want to play with it again, the slime will have taken the shape of the baggie but with a little thawing it will be back to its oozing, slimey consistency.

Add-ins
